Eligibility requirement: Must be 18 years old or over and preferably with least one year of undergraduate study completed, with a relevant scientific major such as biology, chemistry, neuroscience, behavioral sciences, physics etc. Interns must have a genuine interest in medicine and commitment to observation of both surgical and non surgical procedures.

Program Overview

Interns will shadow experienced dermatologists across various departments and learn about the prevention, diagnosis, and management of skin diseases. This clinical internship focuses on providing exposure to diverse dermatological cases, from routine skin conditions to complex autoimmune diseases. Interns will observe cutting-edge procedures and therapies used in modern dermatological practice, guided by professionals with international training and expertise.

The clinic features a multidisciplinary team and state-of-the-art facilities, offering specialized services in dermatological oncology, sexually transmitted diseases, pediatric dermatology, and autoimmune diseases. Interns will rotate through multiple departments, gaining a comprehensive view of dermatology.

  • General Dermatology & Specialized Clinics: Observe consultations for common dermatological conditions such as psoriasis, chronic urticaria, hidradenitis suppurativa, and autoimmune diseases.
  • Dermatological Surgery: Gain exposure to septic surgery procedures, including cryotherapy, diathermocoagulation, CO2 laser treatments, excision/biopsy of skin lesions, and post-surgical care.

The accommodation is fully furnished (single or double beds), with WiFi, shared with 1-6 other same-sex interns, and located in safe areas with easy access to public transport and close to the hospital. The last night of the accommodation is the Friday night of the final week, leaving interns free to depart on Saturday. Private apartments can be arranged in advance, if requested and subject to availability.

Internships start on Mondays and interns have a choice to participate to a program between a minimum of 2 weeks or up to a maximum of 12 weeks .

The program fee includes a free airport pickup on the Sunday before the Monday start date. To qualify for the free pickup interns are required to arrive between 9am-6pm. At the airport interns will be welcomed and transferred to their housing. For interns arriving at an earlier date, a pickup maybe provided if requested and subject to availability.

Adequate information about the city and hosting institution will be sent before arrival. It includes information about the city, local culture, rules, emergency contact numbers and the local team.

Interns should budget 30 Euros (about US$35) for a 30-day unlimited public transport card, 3-5 Euros for breakfast (about US$5-7) and 5-10 Euros for a simple lunch (about US$5-12). Greece has many dining options and from many different cuisines ranging from budget to high end depending on the intern’s needs. Most places accept credit/debit cards but interns are advised to carry cash in Euros.

Greece is one of the warmest countries in Europe with long, hot & dry summers and mild winters. The popular time to visit Greece is between May to September end. Occasionally heatwaves may occur with temperatures peaking (1-2 days) around 105°F / 41°C.
