EPIDAVRUS
The Ancient Theater of Epidaurus is located on the southeast end of the sanctuary dedicated to the ancient Greek God of medicine, Asclepius. At a maximum capacity of 13,000 to 14,000 spectators, the theater hosted music, singing and dramatic games that were included in the worship of Asclepius. It was also used as a means to heal patients, since there was a belief that the observation of dramatic shows had positive effects on mental and physical health. In the framework of the Epidaurus Festival. At the museum you will have the chance to see ancient medical tools used for surgery or other treatments.
MYCENAE
The archaeological site of Mycenae are the imposing ruins of one of the greatest cities of the Mycenaean civilization, which dominated the eastern Mediterranean world from the 15th to the 12th century B.C. and played a vital role in the development of classical Greek culture. The palatial administrative system, the monumental architecture, the impressive artifacts and the first testimonies of Greek language, preserved on Linear B tablets, are unique elements of the Mycenaean culture. This city was linked to the Homeric epics, the Iliad and the Odyssey as its where the legendary Beautiful Helen was abducted and ignited the Trojan.
NAFPLIO
It is a seaport town in the Peloponnese in Greece near the north end of the Argolic Gulf. The town was an important seaport held since antiquity. During the Middle Ages the famous castle at Palamidi was built by the crusaders. The town was the capital of the First Hellenic Republic and of the Kingdom of Greece, from the start of the Greek Revolution in 1821 until 1834. At Nafplio you can take the boat to visit the island castle of Bourtzi, ride the horse carriage, visit the Medieval Palamidi castle at the hill, walk the picturesque narrow streets or simply go for a swim at Arvanitia beach behind the Palamidi castle.
