Medical Shadowing
Start your career in health-care and shadow doctors in Greece, for up to 40 hours per week, in state-of-the-art hospitals and clinics. Our medical-related programs (Medical, Physical Therapy and Physician’s Assistant / Nursing) internships are compliant with the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) regulations on medical observation. Interns shadow English-speaking local medical professionals, rotate through a range of medical departments & specialties to gain practical knowledge, experience in European health-care, gain an intercultural perspective and get into Medical school.
Dentistry
Join the only Dental shadowing program in Europe! Gain a professional experience working with top English-speaking dentists over a range of specialties and combining it with exploring Greece. The internship is compliant with the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) regulations on medical observation. The program offers up to 40 hours per week of shadowing and it is ideal for pre-dent and dental students.
Veterinary
Interns will have the opportunity to observe side-by-side Veterinarians in private clinics and participate in their daily routine providing care to companion animals and the occasional exotic/wildlife animal (reptiles, birds, foxes, eagles, turtles etc). Our team consists of professional and experienced veterinarians actively involved “in situ” and “ex situ” animal care in two locations: Athens and Thessaloniki.
Engineering
Hands-on internship in Greece for up to 40 hours per week in research centers (Athens & Thessaloniki) and work in various phases of Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing) / AI in Engineering / Air Pollution and Climate Change / Cybersecurity / Drones / Hybrid Energy Systems & RES / Industry 5.0 / Sustainable Transportation / Waste Management (designing, assembling, programming) including field work.
Agriculture & Viticulture
If you are interested in Agricultural Research or just want an extraordinary life changing experience combining farm work with your vacations then this hands-on Agriculture & Viticulture internship is tailored just for you. Learn first hand how grapes & olives are cultivated, how wine & oil is made and/or participate in research activities combining old-style farming and state-of-the-art precision agriculture techniques.
Marine Conservation
Volunteers interested in Marine Conservation will have the opportunity to work in one of the 9 core teams: marine mammal research & conservation, marine ecology, GIS & remote sensing, environmental law & policy, terrestrial research & conservation, microplastic and laboratory projects, Aegean Marine Life Sanctuary, Media, PR & graphic design, environmental education. Participants will be living at the picturesque island of Samos.
Cultural Arts & Heritage
Interns interested in Cultural Arts & Heritage, will have the opportunity to shadow, assist and learn from experts in their art and participate in their daily routine, including on-site work. The nature of this internship varies along with the artists work and may include Marble Sculpting, Micromosaics, Painting, Ceramics, Jewelry, Ecclesiastic Iconography / Frescoes and Art Preservation / Conservation / Exhibition.
Psychology
Interns in our Psychology program will have the opportunity to get a real-life view of working in this field & to develop their experience & career prospects. Interns will observe trained local therapists, shadowing them in real life consultations & learning from actual therapy sessions. They will develop relationships with patients and implement different treatment strategies and help the NGO by assisting with administrative tasks.
Social Work
Interns at the Social Work program will support priorities for mental health, abuse, as well as working to support community members with diverse needs, such as the elderly, refuges, poverty and domestic violence, at-risk youth, and people with disabilities as well as in crises that arise from a natural disaster. Interns will interact with diverse cultures / demographics and provide services and care for people.
Media & Graphic Design
Participants interested in documentary photography, video production, illustrations, graphic design, social media and public relations will have the exciting opportunity to have a leading role in preparing awareness campaign materials & events and support researchers & volunteers to disseminate their work to local communities and beyond.
Wildlife Research
Intern at a Bear & Wolf rehabilitation and environmental awareness center inside the ever-green forests of Northern Greece. This is a unique, hand-on experience that focuses on the conservation of large carnivores, field research activities as well as participating in awareness campaigns to protect and restore the local biodiversity.
Bio-Engineering
A unique opportunity for those interested in acquiring a hands-on bio-engineering experience collaborating side-by-side researchers on their daily activities. You will be given the opportunity to work on state-of-the-art laboratory molecular biology techniques spanning from DNA extraction to sequencing, PCR analysis and many more.

Gain valuable experience in the touristic industry in one of the largest hotel complexes in Greece. Cerca Abroad in cooperation with the Athens Campus of Webster University offers a transferable US university credit option for all in-person and remote internship programs. Students can receive 1 academic credit for every 50 hours of internship (4 week / 40 hour per week internships lead to 3cr, 5 week to 4cr). The fee is $465 per credit (inc. application fees).
